Soon, the media and social media platforms circulated the news of the Egyptian artist Mohamed Ramadan receiving an honorary doctorate, after a post he published on his account on Facebook. Some websites even published that Lebanon had awarded him an honorary doctorate. This prompted us to search more for the authority that awarded Muhammad Ramadan an honorary doctorate, And what is its activity?
It comes to mind that it is the international German cultural center known worldwide as the Goethe-Institut, but in fact the center that granted Muhammad Ramadan has nothing to do with the Goethe-Institut or Germany. ) In Egypt also, scientific degrees are not granted.
The German embassy in Cairo denies its connection, and the embassy published on social media platforms a denial of Germany’s relationship with the German Cultural Center, which granted Ramadan the doctorate, and said: “Not all institutions that use the word Germany are affiliated with the German government. Talal Sourani, a cloth merchant, also received the same honorary doctorate as Muhammad Ramadan. He even received many honorary doctorates from many fake organizations in Lebanon. He also received other titles, including the title of diplomat.
Sourani, according to al-Karniyya, who published his photo, holds the position of general coordinator for northern Lebanon at the German International Cultural Center, headed by a person named Mahmoud Abdullah al-Khatib.
